Limburg
This is a weird one.. The lyrics, which are often hard to understand, are about the Dutch province Limburg, but the song is completely sung and played in Arabian style. It features a girl singing the main lyrics and a men's choir singing the chorus. The music is based on a busy drum computer-like rhythm and many layered Arabian synth melodies. Lyrics include the lines 'Eikenhout is eikenhout. eikenhout is hout' (Oakwood is oakwood. Oakwood is wood) and 'Limburg mijn Vaderland' (Limburg is my Fatherland). Even though the synths sound like Robert Jan, if it wasn't on a tape full of other Nits demos I wouldn't think this was actually a Nits song..Demo

(2068 kb)Henk Hofstede - Imagine
Recorded during Henk's solo tour of 2004-2005. Henk decided on the morning of the concert to play this song and downloaded the lyrics from the internet. The version is not perfect, but it's great to hear Henk sing this classic John Lennon song.Den Bosch

(4202 kb)Henk, Arwen & Titia – Crime & Punishment
Arwen and Titia were both in Den Bosch in on the day Henk had his solo
performance there. They met and decided to do one song together. Henk
dedicated it to Theo van Gogh, the Dutch movie maker who was murdered the
day before almost right in front of Henk's house in Amsterdam. This song
definitely is a flash-back to Wool-period Nits! Audience recording.Den Bosch

Recorded during Robert Jan's 1999 Greyhound Tour. He played a few older
songs, including this hectic version of this Nits classic. His band
consisted of Mark Boon on electric guitar, Judith Sijp on cello and Robert
Jan himself on keyboards and drum machines. A unique combination of
instruments! Audience recording.Den Bosch

(4731 kb)I Don't Really Know
This often was the last song during concerts of the Kilo Tour. I think
it's an unreleased Nits tune. During the Kilo period they recorded several
uptempo songs, some of those were rearranged to slower versions for the
album and some remained unreleased, this is probably one of the unreleased
ones. The title is uncertain.Den Bosch

This was recorded very recently during Henk's solo-tour. This is an
amazing piano-version of Two Skaters, one of the many stripped down Nits
songs he plays in this tour. If you have a chance go see him before the
tour ends in may 2005! Audience recording.

(4193 kb)Avec Une Aile Cassée
In 1995 Nits recorded a French version of Broken Wing with French singer
Kent. This was released in France on single and on the Nest album. At a
live radio concert in the Netherlands they played this version (without
Kent). It's not only rare because it's a french version, it's also one of
the few times they played the song in a fast version. Later they
rearranged it with slower music and eventually dropped the song completely
from cocnerts, because they were unhappy with that version as well in the
end.
