Doppelganger
From the radio broadcast of the June 14 2004 concert in the Fabrik in Hamburg. This song is a good representation of this tour with lots of little samples and sounds. The ending is a great duet between Rob and a drum computer.

Empty Room
This is one of the heaviest Nits songs on record and in the early tours it was even wilder live. For the Adieu Sweet Bahnhof Tour they rearranged the song somewhat and made it less guitar-based. The song still is pretty heavy, because the sequenced synthesizer sounds take over to drive the song along.

Famous Blue Raincoat
In their last concert of the 20th century the Nits played about 10 Leonard Cohen covers in the Paradiso in Amsterdam. For this occasion the band was extended with two female singers, a violinist and an extra guitar player. This song is Henk's favorite Leonard Cohen song and it gives a good impression of that evening.

Fire In My Head (Early Version)
In 1992 a documentary about the creation of the TING album awas broadcast in the Netherlands. This was filmed in the Werf studio in late 1991 and featured seveal early versions of songs played live in the studio. Several of these songs feature alternate lyrics or music. I've isolated 10 tracks from this documentary, which will be uploaded here. Sound quality is good, but not excellent. Fire In My Head features some alternative lyrics.

Frits - Wat Fijn Om Idioot Te Zijn
This is Freek de Jonge's translated version of the Neil Innis' song 'How Sweet To Be An Idiot' from 1973. Freek sang it before at earlier solo tours, but this version with Nits is very nice and deserves to be heard!

Frits – Leven Na De Dood
This was taken from the official Frits live video. At the time this was a rather unknown song. It's originally a Bob Dylan song (Death Is Not The End) that was translated by Freek de Jonge. He had performed it by himself in earlier shows using the street organ that is also heard in this version. It was used again for the Frits project and a few years later he recorded it again together with Stips. He changed the lyrics once again to be a humorous take on some current affairs and it went, to everyone's surprise, to number 1 in the Dutch top 40! The Frits version is a bit more general, but very nice to hear.

Frozen Fred
Recorded during the Tent Tour. This song was only played during this tour and even then it was often omitted, so it's pretty rare. This version is much more rock-based than on the album.

Gebroken Vleugel
During the beginning of the Nest Tour the song Broken Wing was played in more or less the familiar fast version. But it was difficult to recreate the CD version, so the band rearranged the song to a slow version. This was played for several weeks during concerts, but ultimately it was also dropped from the setlist. At the Leidsekade Live radio show they played the slow arrangement of the song, but even more uniquely: Henk wrote a dutch version of the lyric and this was the only time ever it was performed.
