Frozen Fred
Recorded during the Tent Tour. This song was only played during this tour and even then it was often omitted, so it's pretty rare. This version is much more rock-based than on the album.

Suddenly I Met Your Face / Take Five
This was recorded during the Work Tour. The song was regularly played from 1980 to 1985 and always in combination with the old Dave Brubeck pop-jazz song Take Five.

Avec Une Aile Cassée
In 1995 Nits recorded a French version of Broken Wing with French singer Kent. This was released in France on single and on the Nest album. At a live radio concert in the Netherlands they played this version (without Kent). It's not only rare because it's a french version, it's also one of the few times they played the song in a fast version. Later they rearranged it with slower music and eventually dropped the song completely from cocnerts, because they were unhappy with that version as well in the end.

Blue
This song was played at all Hat-concerts, but didn't make it on the Urk-album. So I guess it's nice to offer it here as a download.

One Eye Open
An extremely rare live version of this Dutch Mountain track. I only know of this live version. It wasn't played at any of the In The Dutch Mountains Tour concerts I have heard and certainly never after that tour. It's great that the rare, probably one time only performance was documented on this recording.

Yes Or No
A demo for the debut album. Some different things are going on in this version. It sounds a bit warmer than the released version. There are lots more songs from these sessions available, including many unreleased songs. Maybe they will be uploaded at a later time.

Went To The Sea
An early version of Harrow Accident, very different arrangement and several different lyrics. This was a demo for the debut album, but the song wasn't used. Eventually it was released as the b-side to Tutti Ragazzi and many years later as a bonustrack on the Tent CD.

Tutti Ragazzi
A demo for the debut album. This version is much more basic and piano-based. The lyrics and arrangement have differences. It is (of course) closer to the debut album version than the later rerecorded Tent version.

Sugar River
From the radio broadcast of the June 14 2004 concert in the Fabrik in Hamburg. The 1974 featured a very welcome return of many Giant Normal Dwarf tracks. Sugar River was added about halfway through the tour as an encore. Even though it's not the best known track, it always managed to get audiences on their feet!

Doppelganger
From the radio broadcast of the June 14 2004 concert in the Fabrik in Hamburg. This song is a good representation of this tour with lots of little samples and sounds. The ending is a great duet between Rob and a drum computer.

Yokohama Station
This file is Yokohama Station, played live in Zürich on 06-10-94 at the Spirgarten. This song is based on the song 'Sukiyaki' by Kyu Sakamoto (1963). The Nits used the melody and replaced the Japanese lyrics by English ones. It might have been performed a few more times, but this is the only known recording.

In The Dutch Mountains
Nits performed at the very popular Dutch TV show 'Kopspijkers' for the first time on tv in the new line-up with Henk, Rob, Robert Jan and Laetitia. The show has each week a band or artist that performs the song that made them most famous and they asked Nits to play In The Dutch Mountains.

Mask
During the Henk Tour the band played a great version of Mask. It was usually played during the encores and is often missing form circulating concerts.

Green Onions
A cover from the late '60s of a song by Booker T & The MG's. It was recorded during the Kilo tour and it was played as an instrumental introduction to Red Tape. The recording is from the soundboard, the pops and clicks are unfortunately on the original recording.

Skateboard Boy
This song was written and recorded circa 1977-1978 by the Nits. It was never put on an album, but it was played live a lot in the late '70s. During the Nits (Debut Album) Tour of 1977-1979 they played it similar to the studio version. During the 1979-1980 Tent Tour the song lost its lyrics and it was played as an instrumental. The next incarnation of the song was in 1980 on a demo version of Different Kitchen of New Flat, where the music formed the basis of this song. Later on they scrapped that and wrote new music for the song, but the rhythm is still very similar to Skateboard Boy.
Then it was silent for 20 years for this song, until coverband LICE dug it up and played it on November 19th 2000 at Greatest Nits INC, much to the surprise of everyone in the audience (on the official website you can hear the LICE version in the Mailbox section). Only a handful of people were familiar with this song!

Strangers Of The Night
An interesting version of this song from the Margraten concert August 9th 1987. Possibly the very first time this song was recorded live. The concert is one of two which were given in the period during which In The Dutch Mountains was performed. The song is not quite finished. The main structure is there, but several parts, including the spoken sections are still missing.
From the tape collection of Dia Bravenboer.

Museum Square
This song has a nice history. The music is the same as the song 'London Letters' from the debut LP, but with a slightly more updated and electronic arrangement. The band reintroduced it to the setlist after hearing friend-band The Tapes play it live in concert. The lyrics were completely rewritten and the song now tells of a man who wanted to cut up paintings in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. It was performed regularly in this form during the New Flat Tour and in this form it definitely wouldn't have sounded out of place on the New Flat album.

Let's Go To Australia
This song turns up on only one of the many available concerts from the New Flat Tour. It might have been performed a few times more, but this is definitely a very rare song! Unfortunately the song is quite stupid though. The title was given by me, so maybe it officially has another name.

Gebroken Vleugel
During the beginning of the Nest Tour the song Broken Wing was played in more or less the familiar fast version. But it was difficult to recreate the CD version, so the band rearranged the song to a slow version. This was played for several weeks during concerts, but ultimately it was also dropped from the setlist. At the Leidsekade Live radio show they played the slow arrangement of the song, but even more uniquely: Henk wrote a dutch version of the lyric and this was the only time ever it was performed.
