(1888 kb)Ting (Mixing Session)
The last track of these early Ting recordings is different form the others. This time Paul Telman and Henk Hofstede are sitting behind the mixing desk and listening to the music, pushing buttons and switches, while commenting on certain sounds. Werf, Amsterdam

(4656 kb)Ting Outtake ('The Room Upstairs')
This is an unreleased song from the Ting period. It might be called The Room Upstairs, because that line starts off two of the verses. The song has great intense music. Werf, Amsterdam

(5905 kb)Stones #2
This is a second demonstration of the 'Stones' percussion instruments. Tis time the stone is rubbed, producing a humming noise. It is unclear who is playing, but it\'s probably Fritz Hauser or Arthur Schneider. It's hard to tell from the documentary if any Nits member is playing here..Werf, Amsterdam

(3542 kb)Stones #1
The songs regularly contain interview parts over the music.
This track is a short improvisation on the 'stones' percussion instruments that were used on the TING album. All Nits members are playing, as well as Swiss percussionist Fritz Hauser and sculptor Arthur Schneiter.Werf, Amsterdam

(1102 kb)Fire In My Head (Early Version)
In 1992 a documentary about the creation of the TING album awas broadcast in the Netherlands. This was filmed in the Werf studio in late 1991 and featured seveal early versions of songs played live in the studio. Several of these songs feature alternate lyrics or music. I've isolated 10 tracks from this documentary, which will be uploaded here. Sound quality is good, but not excellent.
Fire In My Head features some alternative lyrics. Werf, Amsterdam

(4764 kb)Steentjes (Soundtrack)
This is music that was used with a short film by Henk made for Dutch TV. The short film showed various Nits and crew members playing around with little bricks ('Steentjes' in Dutch). It's a fun little movie and the music suits the images. It's not that fascinating to listen to by itself, but nice enough to place it here. Werf? Dennis Versteeg

(2082 kb)Marmor, Stein Und Eisen Bricht
This is a cover of a German song by Dravi Deutscher. The band already
played it at some concerts in the late '70s, but resurrected it for the
German part of the New Flat tour.

(3944 kb)Nits & Orchestra – Room #7 Moved By Her
The Hjuvi project was once performed after the original recording and
concert in 1992. This occurred in Switzerland at the end of the Ting Tour.
A local orchestra from Winterthur played the whole composition with the
Nits. The band played a regular concert after the orchestral part. There
was again a planned performance of Hjuvi in 1994, but unfortunately that
was cancelled at the last moment.Winterthur

(3775 kb)Bike In Head (Loooong Version)
With it's 9 minutes, this is probably the longest ever version of Bike In Head. The sound quality is rather poor, but it's such a special version it's worth putting it here. The song features a long instrumental section that was triggered by a triangle (!) solo by Rob.Zutphen

(11033 kb)Empty Room
This is one of the heaviest Nits songs on record and in the early tours it
was even wilder live. For the Adieu Sweet Bahnhof Tour they rearranged the
song somewhat and made it less guitar-based. The song still is pretty
heavy, because the sequenced synthesizer sounds take over to drive the
song along.Zürich

(6050 kb)One Eye Open
An extremely rare live version of this Dutch Mountain track. I only know
of this live version. It wasn't played at any of the In The Dutch
Mountains Tour concerts I have heard and certainly never after that tour.
It's great that the rare, probably one time only performance was
documented on this recording.Zürich

(4038 kb)Yokohama Station
This file is Yokohama Station, played live in Zürich on 06-10-94 at the
Spirgarten. This song is based on the song 'Sukiyaki' by Kyu Sakamoto
(1963). The Nits used the melody and replaced the Japanese lyrics by
English ones. It might have been performed a few more times, but this is
the only known recording.
