Mask
ReQuest, track 14, disc 1.
This version has a lot less surface noise than the recording of Mychael.Mark

(5053 kb)Mask
During the Henk Tour the band played a great version of Mask. It was
usually played during the encores and is often missing form circulating
concerts.

(4137 kb)Skateboard Boy
This song was written and recorded circa 1977-1978 by the Nits. It was
never put on an album, but it was played live a lot in the late '70s.
During the Nits (Debut Album) Tour of 1977-1979 they played it similar to
the studio version. During the 1979-1980 Tent Tour the song lost its
lyrics and it was played as an instrumental. The next incarnation of the
song was in 1980 on a demo version of Different Kitchen of New Flat, where
the music formed the basis of this song. Later on they scrapped that and
wrote new music for the song, but the rhythm is still very similar to
Skateboard Boy.
Then it was silent for 20 years for this song, until coverband LICE dug it
up and played it on November 19th 2000 at Greatest Nits INC, much to the
surprise of everyone in the audience (on the official website you can hear
the LICE version in the Mailbox section). Only a handful of people were
familiar with this song!

(1954 kb)Looking For A Friend
This was probably played as a joke during a rehearsal around 1979. The
original version of this song was released on a single together with 'Tell
Me Baby' as the follow-up to 'Yes Or No'. This punk-version is hilariously
out-of-character for the Nits…1979 Dennis

A cover of an R.E.M. song. This was performed regularly during the Dutch Mountains Tour.1987 or 1988 Dennis

(3535 kb)Nights In White Satin
The Nits often played this song during concerts and they always played a
beautiful version of it. Usually it was short, but this is one of the most
complete versions I've heard. It was recorded during the In The Dutch
Mountains Tour, but the tape didn't specify the date and location.1987/1988 Dennis

(1327 kb)Scarborough Fair
Usually in the HAT Tour the intro to Nescio consisted of Henk singing a part of the English verse over a piano backing, as can be heard on URK. In this case he sang a bit of Simon & Garfunkel's song Scarborough Fair.Alkmaar

(4842 kb)Frits - Wat Fijn Om Idioot Te Zijn
This is Freek de Jonge's translated version of the Neil Innis' song 'How Sweet To Be An Idiot' from 1973. Freek sang it before at earlier solo tours, but this version with Nits is very nice and deserves to be heard!Amsterdam Dennis Versteeg

Recorded at the Frits2 performance. Although it could have used a bit more rehearsal time, this was one of the best new Frits songs. The guitar solo is by Cok van Vuuren.Amsterdam

(5519 kb)Slip Of The Tongue
This song wasn't usually part of the Giant Normal Dwarf Tour setlists.
This version shows that with just three people they managed to play this
song, although there are many better versions from other tours. The fact
that it's very rare for this tour makes up for this. Audience Recording.

(4579 kb)Famous Blue Raincoat
In their last concert of the 20th century the Nits played about 10 Leonard
Cohen covers in the Paradiso in Amsterdam. For this occasion the band was
extended with two female singers, a violinist and an extra guitar player.
This song is Henk's favorite Leonard Cohen song and it gives a good
impression of that evening.Amsterdam

Recorded during the Tent Tour. This song was only played during this tour
and even then it was often omitted, so it's pretty rare. This version is
much more rock-based than on the album.
